  1. I didn't know if she could top Serpents of Chaos, but she did. Grandmother Throckmorton is in full glory in this one and there is an exchange at the end of the book that I found so touching... almost!
I loved how Theodosia figured out the staff was drawing the mummies and what she does with the rope to her new governess is so funny.
Anubis plays a big part in this mystery and I love that idea. The charms she makes for the mummies to wear... the secret societies... the revelation that Fagenbush is not who she thought he was... and neither is Admiral Sopcoate... all woven into the story in such a way that made it hard to put the book down as I wanted to see what would happen next.
So many twists and turns. If you love stories about Ancient Egypt, you will love this one.
